If you grew up being my age and living in a Chinese family that either did or did not have a karaoke machine, then I'm sure you'll be familiar with "The Golden Age of Cantopop" and "The Four Heavenly Kings Era"
In general, the 90's in Hong Kong was dominated by a widespread cultural phenomena heavily fueled by the entertainment business. Hong Kong is a small place, it's like the Hollywood of Chinese people. No joke. Around this time, 4 talented artists emerged out of a pool of talent that would set a gold standard in the music industry. Those 4 were Aaron Kwok (郭富城), Andy Lau (劉德華), Jacky Cheung (張學友), and Leon Lai (黎明) (Although honestly, the only one with true vocal skill was Jacky Cheung, Andy Lau is a distant second) and they were dubbed throughout Asia as "The Four Heavenly Kings" of Cantopop. (四大天王)
Yes, I was one of those Chinese kids who had parents and extensive relatives that owned a "KALA-OKAY" machine. I would remember sitting at my cousin's house as my dad and uncle sing terribly half drunk while my mom and aunt would laugh. They even had a kids karaoke machine for us little ones. But those songs they sang would be transplanted into the back of my mind for...geeze, let's just cut to the chase.
Fast foward
I guess this happened around late 2005 when a whole bunch of my friends started leeching new Chinese songs from my friend Raymond.
I picked up a few songs from him and then found an old Jacky Cheung (張學友) cassette from my dad. I guess this got me hooked. From that point on, I was hooked on the classics.
4 years later, I managed to get a hold of around 250 CD's that range between 1986-2009.
Don't get me wrong, I still love whatever autotuned stuff that comes out of the radio nowadays. I guess its just more relaxing to listen to the music you hear when you were a kid and there were none of the pressures of adult life bothering you.
A few days ago, Alan and I had a discussion on Chinese music. We concluded that it's fairly simple, you just simply can't beat the classics.
By the way, my favorite Chinese singer is 王傑 (Dave Wang). Simply because his songs reflect on his own difficult life and how deep his songs are.

So I checked my SFSU e-mail and what a surprise, another fee increase. The board approved a 20% hike that adds onto that 10% increase from May.
It's all understandable to see this since the economy isn't all that great to begin with but one section of the message just pissed me off.
"In keeping with CSU policy, one-third of the fee increase will be set aside for financial aid, and the approximately 7,800 SF State students who receive State University Grants will receive an increase in those awards"
So you mean to tell me that 1/3 of the excess fees that my middle class working parents pay for my tuition; the same tuition that my parents are sacrificing for me that is going to enhance my education in hopes of finding a stable and if-better-or-worse, decent job, is helping to partially pay for a bunch of CHARITY CASE students' tuition? Are you kidding me? Isn't that what the government is for? I bet those 7,800 charity case students won't even give back to the approximately 22,200 students that had to pay their tuition FAIRLY.
Someone give me a couple grands in a grant to pay for my school books and I'll stop ranting on anything regarding a tuition hike.

Never have I ever been so irritated by an acronym.
I can understand that a site uses this acronym as accounts of fiction to entertain a diverse audience but its just the people that use it frequently that drive me insane.
I'm simply tired of seeing people on Facebook continually put FML in front or after whatever status they have next to their name.
Keep telling yourself that, really. Whatever situtation you're in, I would LOVE to see you FAIL.

MagiKRAP
The single most frustrating Pokémon to ever grace a Nintendo portable handheld system!
Simply put, 2 hours gone from my ventures into Platinum.
Good game by the way.
Can't wait to see Soul Silver and Heart Gold in the fall.
...At least it knows Tackle -.-"

Update 2:07
Now that I look back on that Magikarp picture, I have a friend with the exact same look as that. It's pretty cute when she does it ^.^

Without a doubt, Restaurant City is the most addictive online game I have ever played since Gunbound.
It amazes me how much a simple little flash game that combines the antics of The Sims and the cute graphics of Cooking Mama can create such a fun and addicting game.
For those that don't know, Restaurant City is a flash application game hosted on Facebook that allows you to operate a restaurant by letting the player obtain certain ingredients to create food dishes and also upgrading them in order to speed up restaurant improvements.
These improvements include adding an extra worker or increasing the size of the restaurant internally.
What I found most addictive was how competitive things can get when your Facebook friends create a restaurant. Sometimes I can't help but to pass by a friend's restaurant and try to become so far ahead in points that they could not possibly keep up at my rate.
It's a crazy fun little game that I don't recommend getting addicted to.

2 Years and Counting
As of now, I have officially worked at Hollister Co. for 2 years.
Although it doesn't feel like yesterday when I started working there but whenever I get a long period of not getting scheduled, it feels like the time my internship at the San Francisco Environmental Health Department ended and I was left with no job.
Although I may not speak highly on my employer, I have to admit that I've learned a great deal about the stressful life of adults (through many managers) and met some of the most wonderful (and a few lousy) people that made the job a lot more fun.
Although I don't think highly of her anymore, this source of income and experience would not have been possible at the start without having been suggested by my ex, Tam.
I still wonder where I would be working at or if I even found a job without her help but I guess somethings always come together on its own.

Up in Dylan's family vacation house over at Fairfield, blogging.
Interesting thing happened, we got hungry and decided to go to the nearest Burger King.
The restaurant itself was closed but the drive through wasn't.
Lazy us decided to just walk into the drive-thru and just order from there.
Good stuff.
Update for tomorrow: BBQ, Swimming, Epic Tag, and more!

Today wasn't one of the best days to spend money.
When the summer 2009 semester of CCSF started, I ended up dropping both my class (Acct 1 & Piano 1).
I thought everything would be fine; Dropped classes, get a refund.
Boy was I wrong. Because I dropped Piano after the deadline, (one that I wasn't aware of) I was still charged with the fee of 2 units and some bull-crap student fees.
A grand total of $57. There goes a little more than a days worth of pay. -.-
